As we go deep into the analytical references, there’s a clear indication of the growth in the adoption of BIM. In a market study, the global BIM Software market size was valued at USD 9665 million in 2021 and was expected to grow at a CAGR of 16.33% during the forecast period, reaching as high as USD 23950 million by 2027.

BIM is being widely used in western world. The United States and Canada continue to lead BIM adoption in North America. Government initiatives and industry-wide collaboration have played pivotal roles in promoting BIM standards and practices. The AEC industry in these countries is increasingly recognizing the   benefits of BIM in terms of cost savings, clash detection, and project delivery timelines.

Europe remains a significant hub for BIM adoption, with countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, and France taking significant strides.

In the Asia-Pacific region, countries such as China, Japan, and Singapore are at the forefront of BIM adoption. Government-led initiatives and a surge in infrastructure development projects have accelerated BIM integration. 

Countries in the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are embracing BIM to support ambitious urban development projects. 

India and BIM:

Due to its capacity to boost productivity, lower errors, and save money, BIM has recently become more and more popular in the Indian construction sector

The Indian government has taken action to encourage the implementation of BIM after appreciating its advantages.

  • All national highways projects must now be designed and built using BIM, as stated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

  • Similar to this, since 2015, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has adopted BIM in all of its projects, which has sped up project delivery and cut costs.

 BIM has been utilised on a number of construction projects within India.

  • BIM has been implemented in the design and construction of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project, one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the nation.

  • Similar to how the Hyderabad Metro Rail project used BIM, this led to better coordination amongst diverse stakeholders and on-time project delivery. More building projects in India are anticipated to embrace BIM as an accepted standard in the future.

1. Entry-Level BIM Civil Engineer (0-2 years of experience)

Salary: INR 2,00,000 to INR 4,00,000

As entry-level professionals, their primary duties are to generate and manage BIM models, perform data input, and carry out essential design tasks.

2. BIM Coordinator/Modeler (2-5 years of experience)

Salary: INR 4,00,000 to INR 8,00,000

BIM coordinators or modellers play an essential role in the development and management of BIM models. They coordinate and ensure data accuracy and consistency are maintained throughout the project. 

3. Senior BIM Specialist/Consultant (5-8 years of experience)

Salary: INR 8,00,000 to INR 15,00,000

Senior BIM specialists and consultants manage the implementation of BIM, which includes setting and enforcing standards, managing teams, and playing a critical role in the overall strategy and execution of projects. Their expertise is essential for the successful implementation of BIM technology and processes.

4. BIM Manager/Coordinator (8+ years of experience)

Salary: INR 15,00,000 to INR 25,00,000

BIM Managers/Coordinators maintain an in-depth understanding of complicated BIM challenges and are skilled at resolving issues that may arise during the BIM process. Additionally, these experts can guide adoption strategies to ensure the implementation of BIM is successful.

5. Director of BIM/VP of BIM Department (Highly experienced)

Salary: INR 25,00,000 +

At the upper level of construction companies or engineering firms, individuals are responsible for overseeing the entire BIM departments, Director or Head of the BIM Department. They occupy executive positions and are responsible for charting the strategic course for BIM implementation within their respective organisations.
